You’re probably thinking, “SAY WUT?! A vegetable in a cake?!”
Now, when you hear the word “bars”, you might think “foolish health food” or “bland” or “$5 pitchers AND Tequila Tuesday”. Erase such thoughts. Well, it is Tuesday, so you may ponder tequila. But only for a moment! Then I strongly suggest you consider these sweet and salty fancy bars. A wonderful balance between nuts, grains and Mediterranean sea salt (fancy), plus chocolate, prunes and better-than-nutella…ahhhhh. They are a way back into love.
Please drink responsibly.
Nanaimo bars. Nah-nay-mo. Have you heard of them? Yeah, don’t worry I hadn’t either until I had one at a Christmas party this year (The same party Bette Jane and I made the gnome santa cookies for!). But everyone should try them. I vote these the most underrated dessert in the history of ever. Well, I guess they can’t be underrated if no one has ever heard of them. So that’s what I’m here for. To tell you about these Nanaimo things.
Sure, Halloween is over. Green bean casseroles and mashed potatoes loom in the distance. And I even turn my car radio on to hear Delilah playing Christmas music like every song will save some floundering soul.
Not that I’m complaining! Holidays are totally the cozy, somewhat drunken, classic American times for me. But I’m not done with pumpkin. I mean, I bought it at Costco.
So get ready. I’m bringin’ pumpkin back.
